The initial response to “Master Instructor” recognition was tepid at best. Nobody really knew what it involved or what it might do for them.

A Professional Approach to a Professional Accreditation for Aviation Educators

The Master Instructor Continuing Education Program (MICEP) is a family of accreditations available to qualified aviation educators. The program is based on a system of advanced professional standards and rigorous peer review.

The significance of these accreditations is perfectly demonstrated by APS Aviation Performance Solutions. The quality and professionalism of their UPRT (Upset Prevention Recovery Training) is based on their selection of the “most experienced, friendly, and professional pilots in the industry”. They are rigorously trained and mentored to offer each client the best possible UPRT experience possible.

A review of their website indicates that “an essential component of our unparalleled instructional philosophy, APS instructor pilots achieve the Master Certificated Flight Instructor-Aerobatics (MCFI-A) designation by the end of their first year with APS and are required to maintain the accreditation.” They go on to state;

The MCFI-A designation aligns with APS’ standard of instructor excellence and provides a great advantage in the industry from both an instructor quality and industry leadership perspective.

THE VALUE OF AN MCFI-A AS YOUR INSTRUCTOR

ICAO, IATA, the FAA, EASA, and other industry bodies agree that the most critical elements of effective UPRT solutions to Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I) hinge upon the expertise of the instructor. APS recognizes MCFI-A accreditation is an effective and objective standard of excellence for APS instructors and also serves to highlight their unique skill set in the marketplace. This designation is only one part of APS instructor qualifications, with the most critical qualification being robust, standardized UPRT-specific instructor training.

MICEP has grown from humble beginnings in 1996 to an internationally recognized and highly coveted family of credentials appealing to a cross-section of aviation educators. Find out how you can join the ranks of Master Instructor’s.
